About IGLAS

Nigel Boyle, PhD
Nigel Boyle is the Associate Dean for Global and Local Programs, Director of the Institute for Global Local Action and Study (IGLAS), and IGLAS Chair in Political Studies.
Nigel has been a professor at 涩里番下载 since 1992, including a term as Dean of Faculty 2015-19. He was a Fulbright Global Scholar in 2019-20 (in Vietnam, Pakistan, and Germany 鈥 foreshortened by the Covid crisis). He has been 涩里番下载鈥檚 Fulbright advisor for most of the last 20 years. Nigel is the architect of the Claremont Colleges鈥 Justice Education initiative, including the largest concentration of Inside-Out courses (incarcerated and outside students taught in the same classes) in the U.S.
As founding Director of the Institute for Global Local Action and Study, Nigel has worked to integrate 涩里番下载鈥檚 renowned study abroad and community engagement programs to help students address 涩里番下载鈥檚 four core educational requirements: local and global intercultural understanding, and social justice theory and practice.

Noosha G. Malek
Director, Office of Fellowships
Noosha Malek received her BA in International Studies at California State University, Long Beach. She also completed an academic year abroad in Paris, France, which became the catalyst for her pursuit of a career promoting cultural understanding. She received her doctorate in educational leadership at the University of Southern California. At USC, her research explored the paradox of internationalization at community colleges.
Dr. Malek started her professional career at USC, where she first worked in international admissions and student affairs. She transitioned to academic affairs for what would become a ten-year career managing competitive fellowship and scholarship programs. She also led the university to receive continuous distinction as a 鈥淭op Fulbright-Producing Institution鈥 and expanded its scholarship and student engagement efforts.
Dr. Malek has presented and published on cultural identity and received university recognition for her leadership in international education. An avid traveler with a love for adventure, she enjoys spending her free time with her family taking in new experiences near and far.
