When devastating wildfires were ravaging Los Angeles County in January, chef Susan Feniger 鈥76 (pictured left) opened her kitchen to people fighting those fires on the frontlines. Feniger and her culinary partner, Mary Sue Milliken, teamed up with the World Central Kitchen (WCK) to feed first responders during the crisis. They served thousands of meals from a commissary kitchen, and each day varied depending on people鈥檚 needs.

In an interview on KTNV Las Vegas, Feniger said: 鈥淔eeding the firefighters and first responders that are out of their homes is very humbling, and I think it creates even more pride in being in the hospitality business and how important of a role we play to try to make a little bit of a dent in the struggle that鈥檚 happening.鈥

Feniger and Milliken also appeared on ABC鈥檚 鈥淛immy Kimmel Live!鈥 to share about their work with WCK. Amid hardship, their efforts demonstrated the value of community, food for the body, and food for the soul to bring healing.
