Pharmacological Science Summer Diversity Program (PSSDP) at U Washington The Pharmacological Sciences Summer Diversity Program (鈥淧SSDP鈥 or 鈥渢he Program鈥) provides research opportunities for talented undergraduate students from diverse social and cultural backgrounds to perform hands-on research in the basic biological and physical sciences, in the broadly defined areas of drug metabolism, pharmacokinetics, cellular pharmacology, molecular pharmacology, and biophysical virology.
The Research in Industrial Projects for Students (RIPS) Program provides an opportunity for talented undergraduates studying math, computer science, and related disciplines to work in teams on real-world research projects proposed by sponsors from industry or the public sector.
The Summer Health Professions Education Program (SHPEP) is a free summer enrichment program focused on improving access to information and resources for college students interested in the health professions. SHPEP鈥檚 goal is to strengthen the academic proficiency and career development of students underrepresented in the health professions and prepare them for a successful application and matriculation to health professions schools.
The program asks students to discard traditional disciplinary boundaries, and combine concepts and tools from the physical, natural, and social sciences. The program is designed to assist students in developing their own research questions and projects in close collaboration with the SFI faculty and postdoctoral fellows.
The SSRP-Amgen Scholars Program is a fully-funded research-intensive residential program that takes place on Stanford鈥檚 beautiful campus for a nine-week period. Participants are matched with a member of Stanford鈥檚 distinguished faculty and work in one of our state-of-the-art research facilities. Each participant works with both a faculty member and a lab mentor to craft a research project.
The TAURUS program is a full-time, 9-week summer research experience for highly-motivated undergraduate students from underserved and traditionally marginalized groups. We prepare these excellent students to enter graduate school in top-rated astronomy programs or the STEM workforce by providing authentic research experiences, ongoing professional development, and community support beyond the conclusion of the summer program.
UC Irvine鈥檚 Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) program offers undergraduate and master鈥檚 diversity students an opportunity to work closely with faculty mentors on research projects and provides an intense course of graduate preparation workshops. SURF is designed for students who plan to pursue a Ph.D. or M.F.A. degree and enter academic careers, provides the tools needed to facilitate application, admission, and enrollment to graduate school.
The University of California, San Diego Summer Training Academy for Research Success (STARS) program is an eight-week summer research academy for community college students, undergraduate students, recent college graduates, and masters students. Opened to all disciplines, STARS offers student participants a rigorous research opportunity with esteemed UC San Diego faculty, informative transfer and graduate school preparation workshops, and educational, cultural, and social activities in sunny San Diego.
All URP students undertake an original research project, mentored by one of CSHL鈥檚 outstanding research faculty. Students have access to the Lab鈥檚 state-of-the-art research facilities, including extensive resources for genomics and microscopy. At the end of the Program, students write a scientific manuscript about their summer work. Some of these become part of peer-reviewed scientific publications.
鈥 UWD creates a welcoming space for youth, regardless of immigration status, and is the country鈥檚 largest immigrant youth-led community in the country. By empowering people in leading campaigns, these fights for justice offer leadership and organizing skills at the local, state, and federal level.
The program at Illinois provides students with an experience that will help strengthen their knowledge, skills, and understanding of graduate school. Since 1986, Summer Research Opportunities Program (SROP) at Illinois has brought talented undergraduate students from across the US and its territories, such as Puerto Rico, to our campus as an introduction to graduate study, research, and the admission process.
SROP at U-M strives to increase the number of diverse students with unique experiences by supporting their preparation for graduate studies. Through intensive mentorship, active learning, and enrichment activities, SROP fosters a community of scholars who increase social and cultural capital and networking while mastering research skills and knowledge that advances their preparation as candidates for successful graduate study at U-M and success in future careers, increasing representation in professional fields.
鈥 The University of Pennsylvania conducted a study in 2015, and identified a list of employers interested in hiring DACA students. This list is broken up into employer industries, and also includes those with recruitment programs targeting DACA students.
University of Utah Bioscience Undergraduate Summer Research Program The purpose of SPUR is to provide undergraduate students with an intensive 10-week research experience under the mentorship of a University of Utah faculty member.
The primary goals of this program are to introduce our research and training programs to non-NYU students, and to diversify the scientific workforce in the field of biology.
The LGS-SOAR (Summer Opportunity for Academic Research) program host potential Laney Graduate School applicants (non-Emory undergraduates only) who wish to explore, experience and conduct full-time independent and mentored research in the biomedical, biological, natural and public health sciences along with scholarly inquiry in the humanities and humanistic social sciences for the summer.
